Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to install milking equipment.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, work health and safety, animal welfare and biosecurity legislation and codes, and sustainability practices.This unit applies to individuals who take responsibility for their own work and provide and communicate solutions to a range of predictable and sometimes unpredictable problems.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace and/or simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Assessors must satisfy current standards for RTOs.

  • Determine work health and safety hazards, assess risks and implement safe systems of installation
  • Make modifications to standard operating procedures as required
  • Level, align, couple and connect machine/ equipment as per specifications, excluding electrical components

  • Complete mechanical testing of machine/ equipment to ensure conformance to specifications, performance standards and other requirements such as work health and safety
  • Take corrective actions for machine/equipment performing below standards and manufacturer's specifications
  • Ensure final work quality and finish comply with established industry standards
  • Clean site, remove all leftover materials and waste, and ensure that site is safe
  • Record and report all alterations/modifications to machine/equipment to the appropriate authority
